A Commercial Austempering Company, Since 1976.
One of the largest commercial austempering companies in the U.S. — built around a single process, run from a single plant in Logansport, Indiana, around the clock.
One Process. Five Decades. Employee-Owned.
HTI is a commercial austempering specialist that partners with automotive, industrial, and specialty manufacturers to produce harder, tougher, and more dimensionally precise components than conventional heat treating allows — delivered with 24/7 responsiveness and five decades of process expertise.
Where general heat treaters spread across dozens of processes, HTI built an entire company around mastering a single one — and became one of the largest commercial austempering companies in the United States along the way. Everything runs from one plant in Logansport, Indiana, where four continuous belt furnaces operate around the clock. In 2022, HTI became 100% employee-owned through an ESOP, meaning every team member has a direct stake in the quality of every part that leaves this plant.
Every Employee Is An Owner.
In 2022, HTI became a 100% employee-owned company through an ESOP. That means every team member — from the furnace operators running 24/7 lines to the quality team managing lot-to-lot consistency — has a direct financial stake in the work they do and the company they build.
Ownership changes how people show up. When the person loading your parts into the furnace owns a piece of the outcome, they care about your tolerances the way you do. That’s not a slogan — it’s the structure of this company.

How We Run This Plant.
Quality, conduct, and every customer commitment — how we operate is spelled out in our official Business Policy Manual. HTI has held to these standards since 1976, and our employee-ownership structure means every person here is accountable to them.
